A trigger warning was included at the start of their performance of “Cocaine Stains”. In celebration of the drop of their 2024 album “Chains & Stakes”, and as a sendoff for the two time JUNO award winning duo, the group looked to take control of the rap genre, and perhaps open doors to new opportunity within the music industry. Since then, the band members have accomplished the nearly impossible feat of reaching over 153 million views on their single “In Hell I’ll Be In Good Company”.

He’s coming with Amigo the Devil to bring a little “murderfolk” to the night. His music is totally classy for such an authentic night.

The Dead South

The raw power of The Dead South’s popular songs is on display in this documentary about their song “In Hell I’ll Be In Good Company”, a song that has racked up over 153 million views on YouTube. The band’s latest album “Chains & Stakes” (2024) shows a progression in their sound and a continuation of their folk roots, while still bringing their unique energy to the music. Formed in Regina, Saskatchewan in 2012, this four piece band was awarded two Canadian JUNO Awards for Traditional Roots Album of The Year and their albums and recordings have been awarded and certified. The band members describe their act as a “rock band without a drummer and a bluegrass band without a fiddler”, in a attempt to shake the common structure of folk music and we see the connection between the band members and how it brought them together.

Amigo the Devil

Amigo the Devil (Danny Kiranos) plays an evening set. With his murderfolk music conveying great beauty through the dark side of beauty, Amigo the Devil has made a name for himself in the dark corners of the metal, dark folk and Americana genres. His new album, “Yours Until the War Is Over” (2024) is sure to be just as emotive and heavy as his previous work which includes the great single “One Kind of People” as well as his full length albums Everything is Fine. Being slightly outside the main stream of these genres the die-hard fans that Amigo the Devil has gained over time, are a testament to the bands ability to foster a strong connection with its audience through the intense nature of the music. His music inhabits the Southern Gothic end of the spectrum with a heavy serving of doom on top, which is why he is known as a murderfolk artist due to the content of his song stories.
